15 IAEA reports indicated Iran fully abided by commitments: AEOI

Tehran, IRNA – Spokesman of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Behrouz Kamalvandi says 15 reports issued by the UN nuclear agency have indicated that Iran has completely abided its commitments under a 2015 nuclear deal with world powers, which is technically known as the JCPOA.

Kamalvandi said late on Tuesday that Iran’s decision to enrich uranium up to 60% of purity in Fordow, a plant located in central Iran, was a response to resolutions adopted by the IAEA’s Board of Governors in the past.

“Iran never violated its commitments. The question is who caused the situation to change,” said the AEOI spokesman.

“Let us not forget that the Europeans initially used to criticize the United States for its withdrawal from the JCPOA, but now they are speaking in a way as though Iran is responsible for the current situation,” he said.

Kamalvandi also criticized the IAEA for its unpredictable approach and said Iran prefers to have written statements rather than verbal comments from the UN agency about developments on Iran’s nuclear case.

He said that the IAEA Director General Refael Grossi’s recent visit to Iran was a step towards more cooperation.

However, the official said Iran is neither optimistic nor pessimistic about the future of its interactions with the IAEA.

“For the time being, we see a grey future.” said Kamalvandi.
