3 Iranian amputee football players died in Turkiye earthquake

Tehran, IRNA – After 72 hours of the horrific earthquake in Turkiye, the death of three Iranian amputee footballers was confirmed by Iran’s amputee football official.

Jafar Asgari said that 3 Iranian amputee football players, named Mohammad Reza Mirahmadi, Mehdi Saeedavi, and Hamed Matroudi lost their lives in the Turkiye earthquake.

The bodies of the members of the Iranian amputee football team were pulled out of the rubbles after the Monday earthquake in Turkiye.

In separate condolence messages on Thursday, Iran’s Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports of Iran Hamid Sajjadi, and Iran’s National Paralympic Committee expressed condolences over the deaths of three athletes in the Turkiye earthquake.

A strong quake jolted the south of Turkiye and the North of Syria on Monday morning. The 7.8-degree earthquake on Richter scale inflicted heavy damage on buildings and caused lots of casualties, and relief and rescue teams are still busy removing the debris and finding the live victims who are trapped under the wreckage.

The number of deaths in both countries keeps increasing as the corpses are discovered and is exceeding a thousand.

The latest updates of the magnitude 7.8 earthquake, show that the death toll tops 15,000.
