98% of required catalysts in oil, petrochemical industries produced in Iran

Tehran, IRNA – The managing director of Petrochemical Research and Technology Company said that 98% of catalysts needed in reputable Iranian oil and petrochemical industries are now successfully produced in Iran, some of which are even exported to regional countries.

Majid Daftari who was speaking in the 1st Expert Level Exhibition of Catalysts for Oil and Petrochemical Industries, during the 10-day Dawn Celebrations, making the 44th anniversary of victory of the Islamic Revolution, said, “The country’s catalysts industries, which is a precious combination thanks to the activities of the reputable Iranian companies, has so far achieved to rid the Iranian oil and petrochemical companies of foreign producers, despite the hardships of the sanctions.”

He said that now that 58% of the required catalysts in Iran are produced locally, we must keep in mind that the remaining 15% of them are either very slightly used in those industries, or their production is not economically beneficial, compared with their imports’ expense.

The managing director of Petrochemical Research and Technology Company said that it has now been about two years that the exports of Iranian-made catalysts to the regional countries started and their industries are now running using those products.

Daftari said that the annual need to catalysts in oil industries in Iran is around 37 tons, and the Petrochemical Research and Technology Company is providing the knowledge-based companies and researchers all its facilities to accelerate the process of their new achievements.
