A Parliamentary Committee Calls On The Government To Prevent The Recurrence Of Vulgar Celebrations

The Parliamentary Martyrs, Victims and Political Prisoners Committee called on the Prime Minister and the Minister of Culture to prevent the recurrence of vulgar celebrations and hold those responsible for them accountable for violating religious laws and social norms.

The head of the committee, MP Hassan Salem, said in a press conference today, Wednesday, that “peoples’ celebration of the national days of their countries is a celebration of the history, identity, sovereignty and unity of their countries. The celebration is considered an opportunity for the people to express their love and pride and enhance the national spirit and national unity among members of society, and not to be in the form of “Indecent acts in terms of dancing and vulgar clothing that insult our religion and beliefs, which we reject as an Islamic country.”

He added, “We must transcend with our celebrations and joys with our national and religious occasions, and be a message to the whole world that this people, with all its components and with its various religions and beliefs, is an authentic people.”
