Baghdad – The head of the State of Law coalition, Nouri al-Maliki, and the head of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan Party, Bafel Talabani, stressed the importance of resolving the outstanding problems between Baghdad and the region in accordance with the constitution.
The media office of the coalition president stated in a statement, “The head of the State of Law coalition, Nouri al-Maliki, received in his office this evening the head of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan Party, Bafel Talabani, and during the meeting they discussed developments in the political and security situation in the country, and the ongoing preparations for holding local elections.”
The statement added, “The two sides agreed on the importance of cooperation and coordination between national forces in order to confront challenges and maintain security and stability in the country, stressing the importance of resolving the outstanding problems between the Kurdistan region and Baghdad in accordance with the constitution and the law, stressing the necessity of holding local elections on time, including in Kirkuk Governorate.”
