President of the General Commission for Survey and Geospatial Information and Chairman of the Arab Committee of United Nations Experts for Geospatial Information Management Dr. Mohammed bin Yahya Al Sayel met with Kyoung-Soo Eom, head of the UN Geographic Information Systems Unit here, on the sidelines of the 13th meeting of the UN Committee of Experts for Geospatial Information Management.
The two discussed ways of cooperation between the authority and the unit assigned to draw and provide maps for the UN humanitarian work.
Al-Sayel gave a brief presentation on the UN Center of Excellence for the Environment Incubating Geospatial Information, including its objectives and strategy, while
Eom gave a detailed explanation of the scope of work of his unit and how to collect geospatial information for the purpose of producing maps for the UN humanitarian work.
The two sides agreed to exchange information and identify aspects of cooperation to enhance the support of the UN Geographic Information Systems Unit for the authority’ project concerning incubating geospatial information and to contribute to the establishment of the UN Global Center for the Incubating Environment, to be hosted by Riyadh.
