Albudaiwi: Bahrain’s GCC Radio, Television Festival Celebrates Young Talent, Supports Creative Media


Manama: Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi said at the 16th edition of the GCC Radio and Television Festival, held yesterday in Manama, that Bahrain’s hosting of the Gulf Radio and Television Festival since 1994 is a reflection of its commitment to supporting and strengthening creative media in the council member states.

The festival, which celebrates and recognizes young talent in the field of radio and television, according to a press release from the GCC General Secretariat, was held under the patronage of First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

The Bahraini Ministry of Information organized the event in cooperation with the GCC Radio and Television Corporation. Ministers of information from GCC and other Arab countries, and media experts took part in the event.

Albudaiwi expressed his gratitude and appreciation to
Bahrain for organizing the festival. He wished the festival’s organizers all success and achievement in its 16th edition to maintain the successes of previous editions and to continue the progress and development at the media, cultural and social levels.

He also praised the efforts made by the Radio and Television Corporation of the GCC countries to make this festival a success, and its keenness to boost cooperation between public and private television in the member states, highlighting the leading position of the GCC media and the creative works it has produced throughout the years.
