Tehran: Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has stated that he once again proposes diplomacy to the European troika, comprising France, Germany, and Britain, despite the recent fluctuations in relations between Tehran and these countries.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Araqchi communicated his views in a message on X, highlighting the current ‘lose-lose’ situation. He emphasized that Iran’s relations with the E3 have experienced various ups and downs in recent history. Araqchi expressed that each side holds its own narrative, but he considers placing blame a futile exercise.
He recalled his proposal for dialogue last September in New York when he met with the foreign ministers of the E3 and other European counterparts. Araqchi advocated for cooperation over confrontation, extending beyond just the nuclear issue to all areas of mutual interest and concern. However, he noted that the European troika unfortunately chose a more challenging path.
Following his recent consultations in Moscow and Beijing, Araqchi reaffirmed his readiness to initiate visits to Paris, Berlin, and London. He mentioned that he was prepared to take this step before the indirect dialogue between Tehran and the United States began in Muscat, Oman, but the E3 opted out.
Araqchi concluded by stating that the ball is now in the E3’s court. He urged them to seize the opportunity to move away from the influence of Special Interest groups and to forge a different path, emphasizing that actions taken at this critical junction are likely to define the foreseeable future.
