Army starts drills in southeast Iran

Tehran, IRNA – Iranian Army started staging the main phases of “Zonfaqar-1400” drills in Makran region, southeast of the country, on Sunday.

The infantry, vessels, drones, and jets of the Army are to participate in the maneuver.

The spokesman for the war game has said that monitoring the country’s air space and place of the maneuver will be done in southern national waters.

Admiral Mahmoud Mousavi also said that the Army’s pilots and drones will carry out air patrol during the drills.

Security will be brought about to the West Asia region through unity among regional countries and relying on their capabilities, the official announced.

He went on to say that the message of Zolfaqar-1400 drills is establishment of friendship via relying on capacities inside the region.

Makran coastal region starts from Iranian strategic port of Chabahar and reaches Jask in southern Iranian province of Hormuzgan near the Strait of Hormuz.
