Budget allocation should be justice-oriented/ Emphasis on avoiding bargaining in budget allocation

The President thanked the government’s economic team for its efforts in drafting the 1401 budget bill and said, “According to the Supreme Leader of the Revolution’s emphasis on reforming the country’s budget, the 1401 budget bill should be drafted on this basis, which is reforming the budget structure.”

Speaking on Sunday evening in a meeting of the Cabinet’s Economic Coordination Board, Ayatollah Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi emphasised that the 1401 budget is in line with the needs of the country and the goals of the 13th government, stating, “The most important goal of the government is justice, so drafting the budget should be justice-oriented”.

Referring to the historical backwardness in the administration of justice, the President added, “One of the important documents to compensate for the backwardness is the country’s annual budget. Therefore, this document should compensate part of the country’s backwardness in social and economic justice”.

Ayatollah Raisi continued, “The budgeting system should not be based on bargaining, friendship and pressures of others, but budgeting should be based on real needs, and bargaining and partisanship should be prevented”.

Referring to the high volume of tax evasion in the country, Ayatollah Raisi stated, “The issue of tax evasion or incorrect calculation of taxes should be eliminated in the 1401 budget and government revenues should be increased in this way”.

The President also referred to the rial cost of some companies and their benefit from all kinds of hidden subsidies in exchange for dollar income, saying, “These companies must pay the real tax and the share of the government and the people transparently”.

Explaining the government’s approach to the provincial budget, Ayatollah Raisi said, “We do not intend to interfere in the smallest issues of the provinces, but the monitoring of the performance of government agencies in the provinces by the Plan and Budget Organisation should continue on an ongoing basis”.

Referring to the financial burden created by the previous government for the 13th government and the sale of securities, the President said, “Ministers and managers should stand up against spending and not allow the current expenses of the apparatuses to overshadow the developmental activities”.
