Tehran, IRNA – Chinese ambassador to Iran met and conferred with the head of National Olympic Committee of Iran (NOCI) and his deputies at NOCI on Tuesday before Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games.
The meeting was aimed at having greater harmony at the time of the Iranian sports caravan’s presence there.
The NOCI Head Mahmoud Khosravi-Vafa, the Head of Paralympics Committee Qafour Kargari, the Secretary General and Caretake of Iran’s Olympics sports caravan in Hangju Manaf Hashemi, NOCI Supreme Consultant Nasrallah Sajjadi and some other NOCI managers were present in the meeting with the Chinese Ambassador Chang Hua.
The NOCI Head welcomed the Chinese ambassador and expressed delight over his presence in the NOCI coordination meeting.
Khosravi-Vafa said that the Iranians will be the guests of China with a large sports caravan and will try to have a successful and effective presence in Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games, as well as the Asian Paralympics, adding, “We are also in need of your support and assistance in various fields, including gaining the tickets for the game for the fans, the presence of the teams’ supporters, transportations and similar cases.”
He referred to China’s successful hosting of China in last year Winter Olympics, arguing, “China’s activities in optimum level hosting of the Winter Olympics is praiseworthy and we believe countries that are most active in the Olympics Movement are in Asia, including China and Japan, which is why those countries are good hosts for the Asian Games, and display Asian countries’ competence in such events.”
The Chinese ambassador, too, in the meeting expressed delight to be present at the coordination meeting of the NOCI, congratulated the upcoming Iranian New Year, Nowruz, and said that China is well prepared for hosting both the Asian Games and the Asian Paralympics.
Chang Hua said that after a few years of restrictions due to the Corona Pandemic, now China is well prepared to host the 2023 Asian Games with its numerous events, conferences, and side programs, which is a great opportunity for Asian nations’ proximity, friendship and displaying of the spirit of having a shared Asian faith for the entire Asian nations.
“We are also ready for close cooperation with Iran in various sports and cultural fields, especially with the NOCI and the different Iranian sports federations,” he added.
Expressing delight over hearing that Iran will attend the Asian Games with a large sports caravan, the Chinese envoy said, “Medal winning is not the only objective of the game, as friendship is even more important, and side by side with being faster and stronger, we need to be more united and more intimate nations.”
