Clearance operation kills 6 militants, 7 security personnel S. Pakistan

At least six “terrorists” and seven security personnel were killed in a clearance operation that started a day ago by the security forces, after an attack on Frontier Constabulary (FC) camp in Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province, said the military on Saturday.

According to a press release by Pakistan military’s media wing Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military completed the clearance operation it began a day ago killing all six terrorists in the compound who were well equipped. It further said, “in the process of clearance operation, seven sons of the soil, including a civilian, have embraced shahadat (martyrdom) while another six individuals, including a woman, have been injured.” The military added that a hostage rescue operation was also conducted to save three families from a residential block. “The terrorists had not even spared children from their horrendous approach,” said ISPR. The military clearance operation started in Balochistan’s Muslim Bagh town after the attack on FC camp. “Necessary intelligence follow-up will continue to trace their (terrorists’) linkages, arrest facilitators and expose their sponsors,” the ISPR vowed. The military’s media wing said “security forces, in step with the nation, remain determined to thwart all attempts at sabotaging peace, stability and progress of Balochistan.” Meanwhile, Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif expressed “deep grief and sorrow” over the martyrdom of six soldiers of Pakistan Army and one civilian. In a statement issued by Sharif’s office, the premier commiserated with the bereaved families and prayed for the higher ranks of martyrs. Praying for the early recovery of the injured, Sharif directed officials to provide those injured with the best possible medical treatment. He said the armed forces are determined to completely eradicate the menace of terrorism, adding that the entire nation stands by the security forces.
