Constructive interaction of ministers and governor-generals improves the quality of gov’t decisions/ Decentralisation is one of the necessities to increase efficiency in running the country

The President described the effective and constructive interaction of ministers and governor-generals as improving the quality of government decisions and actions, and said, “Ministers should delegate the authority to make decisions that do not need to be reviewed and adopted at the capital to governor generals”.

Speaking in a cabinet meeting on Wednesday morning, Ayatollah Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi said, “Governor-generals are the high representatives of the government in the provinces and effective and constructive interaction between ministers and governor-generals will have a definite impact on improving the quality of government decisions and actions”.

Pointing out that decentralisation is one of the important necessities in increasing the efficiency of the country’s governing system, the President added, “Ministers should take serious steps to decentralise and delegate the authority to make decisions that do not need to be reviewed and adopted at the capital to those governor-generals”.

In another part of his speech, Dr Raisi stated that privatisation is necessary to organise the country’s economy, adding, “Of course, privatisation must be done at a real price, transferred to real and qualified individuals and the private sector to help organise the country’s economy”.

Ayatollah Raisi emphasised the observance of the three principles of “guidance”, “support” and “supervision” of the government in the implementation of privatisation and noted, “The principle of privatisation is an inevitable necessity and the government should relinquish its ownership so that the private sector manages affairs”.
