Crown Prince Camel Festival Breaks Guinness World Records for 4th Time with 21,637 Camels

The Crown Prince Camel Festival officially clinched a fourth Guinness World Record certificate as the largest camel racing tournament globally, boasting a record-breaking number of camels competing in the festival’s rounds.

At the conclusion of sign-ups for the sixth edition, the festival set a new record with 21,637 camels, marking a staggering 93.5% increase from the inaugural festival, totaling 98,929 camels across all six editions.

Since its inception in 2018, this festival has been making waves in the record books, securing the Guinness certificate three times before adding a fourth this year. The first two recognitions were for hosting 11,178 and 13,377 participating camels, while the third was for unveiling the world’s largest camel sculpture adorned with 51,200 lights, towering 4.65 meters high and stretching 10 meters wide.

This year’s remarkable achievement aligns with Saudi Arabia’s designation of 2024 as “The Year of the Camel” and spotlights the unique cultural significance these desert creatu
res hold in the lives of Arabian Peninsula residents. The designation also aims to further cement these impressive creatures’ entrenched status and enhance their visibility both locally and globally as a cherished cultural symbol and a cornerstone of civilization.
