Delegation of Ministerial Committee Assigned by Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit Holds Meeting with Spanish Foreign Minister


Madrid: The Ministerial Committee, appointed by the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit and led by Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, convened with Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Alvarez in Madrid today.

The Committee comprised Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani; Palestine’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Dr. Mohammed Mustafa; Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi; Turkiye’s Foreign Minister, Hakan Fidan; and the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Hussein Ibrahim Taha.

The meeting centred on addressing the Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip and the city of Rafah, emphasizing the imperative of an immediate ceasefire and the provision of ample and sustainable humanitarian aid throughout the Strip.

The Committee commended Spain’s recognition of the Palestinian state and its advocacy for the Palest
inian people’s right to reside in dignity and freedom within their independent, sovereign state, based on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Furthermore, the meeting assessed the Committee’s endeavours to promote the recognition of the Palestinian state and implement the two-state solution following the Arab Peace Initiative and relevant international initiatives.

The members underscored the urgency for the international community to acknowledge the Palestinian state and strive for a just and comprehensive peace, safeguarding the rights of the Palestinian people and ensuring regional security. They emphasized the importance of halting all unilateral and illegitimate Israeli actions in the West Bank, upholding international law and humanitarian principles, and holding the Israeli occupation accountable for its crimes against defenceless civilians.
