Details of Iran, Russia FMs talks for Ukraine peace plan, Vienna talks

Tehran, IRNA – A member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Iranian Parliament, explained Iran’s plan to mediate in the Ukraine crisis and the mutual responses of Iran, Europe, and the United States to the JCPOA negotiation proposals in the meeting of Iran’s foreign minister with his Russian counterpart.

In an interview with IRNA, Mehdi Saadati, who accompanied Minister of Foreign Affairs Hossein Amirabdollahian on his trip to Russia, talked about the details of the minister’s meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov.

He said that very important talks were held in Moscow with the presence of the Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs and his deputies with the Russian authorities, which were held in public and private.

The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), bilateral cooperation between Iran and Russia, and regional and global cooperation were discussed in the meeting, Saadati added.

Referring to the wide relations between Iran and Russia, the member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Iranian Parliament said that a new document has been prepared in the form of strategic cooperation between Iran and Russia but needs to be discussed by Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, the cabinet, and the Parliament for approval.

Details of Iran’s peace plan in the Ukraine crisis; peacekeeping forces to be deployed at the borders

Regarding the details of Iran’s peace plan in the Ukraine and Russia crisis, Saadati said that Iran has presented proposals that are classified.

Regarding the nuclear complex in Russia and the necessity of not repeating the Chernobyl disaster, which is related to the security of the people, Iran announced that Tehran is willing to share its experience in nuclear matters and the creation of a nuclear safe zone at Russia’s disposal, adding that specialized cooperation between the two countries will be carried out in this regard.

The member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Iranian Parliament said that Iran’s proposal had very many parts, one of which was the presence of forces from international organizations on the border of the two countries, adding that it also contains obligations for Europe, the US, Russia, and Ukraine.
