Egyptian, Turkish diplomats meet in Ankara on African issues


The foreign ministries of Egypt and Turkey held consultations in the Turkish capital, Ankara, regarding African affairs.

Assistant Foreign Minister for African Affairs Ehab Awad chaired the Egyptian delegation, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement following the meeting.

During the first session, Awad met with General Director of Eastern and Southern Africa of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs Elif Ülgen.

The talks focused on issues of common interest in light of the successive developments in the region.

Awad also met with Director General for Central and West Africa at the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sebnem Cenk.

The two sides discussed the challenges facing the Sahel region, and ways to work towards establishing stability there.

At the end of the discussions, Awad met with Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmet Yildiz. They discussed various issues and ways to enhance coordination and consultation between Egypt and Turkey in the coming period.
