Erdogan meets al-Sudani in New York


Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani in New York on Wednesday evening on the sidelines of their participation in the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The Turkish Presidency’s Communications Department stated in a statement that Erdogan and al-Sudani discussed bilateral relations between Turkey and Iraq and regional and global issues.

Erdogan stressed during the meeting that Turkey and Iraq, as neighboring countries, have taken steps to improve cooperation, which will benefit the two countries and the region, especially with the implementation of the Development Road Project and cooperation in the field of combating terrorism.

He stressed the need for “solidarity of the international community in order to prevent Israel’s efforts to spread conflicts in the region.”

Erdogan added that “Israel will certainly be held accountable for its massacres in the Palestinian territories.”
