FM, Spanish counterpart discuss efforts to reach ceasefire in Gaza


Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Badr Abdelatty met with Jose Manuel Albares, Spain’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, at the start of his visit to Madrid, said Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ambassador Tamim Khallaf in a statement.

The visit is aimed at participating in a ministerial meeting on the Palestinian issue and the implementation of the two-state solution.

Khallaf noted that the meeting involved an exchange of views on the developments in Gaza, including Egypt’s efforts to achieve a ceasefire and deliver humanitarian aid to the Strip.

Minister Abdelatty expressed appreciation for the longstanding relationship between Egypt and Spain. He praised Spain’s support for the Palestinian cause, particularly its decision to recognize the Palestinian state, Khallaf continued.

Minister Abdelatty conveyed Egypt’s hope that more countries will follow suit, emphasizing that such recognition is a crucial component for achieving peace in the Middle East.

or Khallaf reported that Minister Abdelatty commended the strong political and economic ties between the two countries.

Abdelatty underscored the importance of boosting trade relations and increasing Spanish direct investments in Egypt. He also highlighted opportunities in various sectors, including infrastructure, transportation, water management, renewable and green energy, and electrical interconnection.

Th Egyptian Foreign Minister traveled to Madrid to attend a ministerial meeting on the Palestinian issue and the implementation of the two-state solution scheduled for the 13th of this month.

The visit is a crucial opportunity to consult with foreign ministers from participating countries on advancing efforts to achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, address the ongoing humanitarian crisis, revive the Middle East peace process, and implement the two-state solution.
