Tehran, IRNA – Cuba has awarded the head of Iran’s Pasteur Institute its national prize of Carlos J. Finlayh for his participation in research and scientific activities of the two countries.
According to the news website of the Iranian Health Ministry, the Council of State of Cuba, under decree 281 by the Cuban presidency, awarded Alierza Biglari the Latin American country’s national prize of Carlos J. Finlayh to honor him for cooperating in the joint scientific and technological activities of the two countries. Cuba has stressed the significance of the cooperation of the Iranian scientists in completing agreements on the transfer of technical know-how and technology required to produce vaccines.
Carlos J. Finlayh Prize is given by the Council of State of Cuba, which is headed by the country’s president, to national and international scientific figures for their qualifications and participation in developing natural and social sciences of Cuba, as well as scientific developments aimed at serving mankind.
The Pasteur Institute of Iran was established almost a hundred years ago and is active in research, production, and education fields. It has played a key role in controlling infectious diseases in Iran and the world ever since its establishment.
The institute has served as a key hub for producing vaccines in the region since 1920. Currently, it is working with Cuba on producing a COVID-19 vaccine.
