Tehran, IRNA – Permanent Representative of Russia to International Organizations in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov in a tweet on Tuesday said that today the IAEA BoG will begin to consider Iran’s nuclear issue.
Today the #IAEA BoG will start consideration of the agenda item entitled “Verification and monitoring in the Islamic Republic of #Iran in light of #UNSC resolution 2231 (2015)”, Ulyanov wrote on his Twitter account on Tuesday.
Earlier, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) director-general who was in New York to participate in the 10th Conference to Review the Non-Proliferation Treaty said in a press conference that the Iranian nuclear program is progressing very, very rapidly.
He added that the Iranian nuclear program in the year 2022 is quite different with its status in 2015. It is progressing and expanding quite rapidly, but this does not mean that we cannot approve it.
Grossi reiterated that in order to approve that broad nuclear program, appropriate with its progress and development, we need access. It is not impossible to approve the Iranian nuclear plan, but approving it requires a very comprehensive and essential work.
The IAEA director-general, meanwhile, confirmed that Iran has declared the setting up of its new advanced centrifuges, adding that the IAEA inspectors are ready for performing their inspection tasks, and that he will also inform the IAEA Board of Governors about the case.
In reaction to some statements by the IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi and the request for the Islamic Republic of Iran’s response to the agency’s questions, Spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Behrouz Kamalvandi said that the claimed issues about the improper monitoring in Iran have no legal basis because what is not done today is related to the P5+1 agreement with the Islamic Republic of Iran, which is defined in the form of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), as well as its re-establishment in accordance with the Law of strategic action to lift sanctions and safeguards.
Kamalvandi stressed that the agency should not judge and comment on the fabricated documents of the Zionist regime, which are provided to the agency for specific political purposes, adding that such judgment goes against the principle of impartiality and professionalism.
