IAEA-Iran coop. prompting West to finalize Vienna Talks

Vienna, IRNA – Iran’s wise initiative to foil the plot of the Zionist regime, which tried to provoke the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) against Tehran, has left the West no excuse to postpone taking political decisions on the Vienna Talks.

The IAEA and Iran reached a conclusion during its the Agency’ Director General Rafael Grossi’s Saturday visit to Tehran to exchange documents in a few months and resolve outstanding issues regarding the UN nuclear watchdog’s questions.

The agency has raised accusations on discovering atomic particles for nearly two years based on alleged documents presented by the Zionist regime. The alleged issues have turned into a stumbling block on the path of finalizing the talks in Vienna, Austria.

Director of Middle East and North Africa Department at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office Stephanie Al-Qaq tweeted last week, “Safeguards are a fundamental part of the non-proliferation system and are separate to the JCPOA. We will always reject any attempt to compromise IAEA independence.”

It is worth mentioning that the issue was part of joint plot hatched by the Trump administration and the Zionist regime to delegitimize Iran’s peaceful nuclear program and put more pressures on Iranians. The two enemies resorted to the plot in order to incite the IAEA and derail attempt to resolve dispute over Iran’s nuclear activities.

Mohammad Eslami, the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), said following his meeting with Grossi that political influence and lobby groups should not affect the IAEA’s decisions.

The IAEA director general described his discussions with the AEOI president as effective, noting that both sides tried to outline a pragmatic approach to resolve special remaining issues.

Grossi underlined that the IAEA’s agenda is not being dictated by anyone, noting that the agency tries to remain independent.

Iran and the IAEA issued a joint statement, which shows that the case of one of four alleged sites has been closed and that other alleged issues will be resolved within a period of up to three months on the basis of a roadmap.

The IAEA chief addressed reporters upon his return to Vienna that he plans to present his report to the Board of Governors of the Agency in June.

As a result of understanding between the UN nuclear watchdog and the Islamic Republic, it is expected that the Western parties involved in the Vienna Talks to revive the 2015 nuclear deal and lift anti-Iran sanctions speed up decision-making and pave the way for finalizing an agreement.

The representatives from the European trio (Britain, France and Germany) are expected to return to Vienna from their capitals, where they discuss the latest developments in the negotiations.

Al-Qaq also wrote on his Twitter account on Friday, “We are close. E3 negotiators leaving Vienna briefly to update Ministers on state of play. Ready to return soon.”

According to a source close to the negotiations, Iran and the P4+1 group (Britain, France, Russia, China plus Germany) have finalized their talks and that the finish line is waiting for political decision by the United States.
