In New York … Chairman of the Media Commission participates in discussing the challenges of digital transformation and strengthening infrastructure


Chairman of the Communications and Media Commission, Ali Al-Moayyad, participated today, Thursday, in a roundtable meeting in New York, to discuss the challenges of digital transformations and ways to enhance the agenda of sustainable development goals through digitization.

A statement by the Communications and Media Commission stated that “Chairman of the Communications and Media Commission, Ali Al-Moayyad, participated in the high-level roundtable meeting on strategic investment in digitization and digital inclusion organized by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in New York.”

The statement added that “the meeting was attended by senior decision-makers from various countries, to discuss the digital transformations taking place in their countries, and ways to enhance the agenda of sustainable development goals through digitization.”

The statement pointed out that “the discussion focused on several main topics, including digital transformation and investment in digital infrastructure, and addres
sing the digital gap that Arab countries suffer from.”

It continued, “The meeting addressed the mechanisms through which governments, societies and private sector companies can develop digitization, with a focus on protecting information and data and their privacy, and making the most of them within the framework of sustainable development.”

It pointed out that “the opportunities provided by digital transformation and emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence, in enhancing inclusiveness and prosperity in the Arab region were also reviewed.”

The attendees stressed the importance of cooperation between various parties to enhance the general digital infrastructure and develop basic capabilities to provide comprehensive digital services at the community level.”
