Integrity Commission Overthrows An Officer (Major) In The Moi Of Committing The Crime Of Bribery

The Integrity Commission announced today, Tuesday, the overthrow of an officer with the rank of major in the Ministry of Interior who was caught red-handed in the crime of bribery.

A statement by the Commission’s Investigations Department said, “A team from the Investigation and Control Department in the Baghdad Investigation Directorate was able to overthrow an officer in the Ministry of Interior with the rank of (major), red-handed while receiving a bribe,” explaining that “the team, after carrying out surveillance and setting up an ambush, was able to trap an investigating officer at Al-Bayaa Police Station while receiving a sum of money from a citizen, in exchange for facilitating a case concerning him at the police station.”

It added, “The statements of the accused, who was arrested, were recorded, based on a judicial note issued by the judge of the Second Karkh Investigative Court, and he was deposited in a police station, in preparation for presenting him to the competent investigating judge, to take appropriate legal measures against him.”

The statement explained, “The investigation team, which moved to the Real Estate Registration Directorate – Rusafa 2, was able to arrest (6) defendants who were promoting transactions without proper special mandate or official status that would entitle them to deal with the Directorate,” Noting that “among the arrested defendants was an employee working in the Relations and Media Office of the Ministry of Agriculture and a lawyer.”

It pointed out, “Sums of money were seized in the possession of some of the defendants, real estate transactions, real estate data, and real estate data opening forms, as well as a real estate map and original personal documents.”
