Int’l confab on Iranian Studies in the World starts in north Iran

Rasht, IRNA – First Biennial International Conference of the Iranian Studies in the World kicked off through video conferencing in northern Iranian province of Gilan on Wednesday.

Executive secretary of the conference Abbas Panahi told IRNA that the two-day event is being held with cooperation of Center for Iran, the Balkans and Central European Studies (IBCE), University of Guilan, Allameh Tabataba’i University, Institute for Humanities and Cultural Studies, Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, and Iranian Society of History.

The official said that different countries including Azerbaijan, Russia, Japan, Bulgaria, Romania, Canada, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Turkey, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Georgia, and Armenia have taken part in the conference.

From 225 essays sent by domestic and foreign researchers, 140 have been accepted by the jury, Panahi added.

Essays have focused on issues related to history, archeology, Persian language and literature, sociology, cultural studies, geography, and political sciences, he underlined.

At the end of his remarks, the official hoped that the conference would lead to understanding Iranian studies and culture in the world.
