Int’l Iranology seminar held in Peking University

Tehran, IRNA – Center for Iranian Cultural Studies in collaboration with the Center for Oriental Literature Studies in Peking University held the 7th International Iranology Seminar.

The two-day seminar began on Monday and was attended by Vice President of Peking University, the director-general of Scientific and University Collaborations in Islamic Culture and Communication Organization, Iran’s Cultural attaché in China, and a number of Iranian and Chinese scholars and researchers and students of Peking University.

Iran’s Ambassador to China Mohammad Keshavarzzadeh said in a tweet that Persian language and literature and Iranian studies have been popular in Chinese universities and that establishing China studies discipline in Iran could strengthen the ties between the two ancient nations.

Vice President of Peking University Wang Bo said in the opening ceremony of the seminar that friendship between Iran and China had a long history.

He noted that the Silk Road has connected the two nations for over 2,000 years, adding that the relationship between Iran and China has entered a new stage this year as they celebrate the 50th anniversary of establishment of official ties.
