Iran agrees to overhaul Venezuelan oil, gas refineries

Tehran, IRNA – Iranian Minister of Petroleum Javad Owji said on Tuesday that Iran has signed agreements with Venezuela for overhauling the oil and gas refineries of the Latin American country.

Owji made the remarks speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a Summit of the heads of states of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) in Doha, Qatar.

“Fortunately, we signed memoranda of understandings with some GECF member states,” the minister said, referring to signing MoUs for the development of oil and gas fields in Venezuela, for instance.

He also said that Iran and Venezuela have signed other MoUs for overhauling the Venezuelan oil and gas refineries and transferring the knowhow and exports of technical and engineering services to the country.

Owji, who is accompanying President Raisi in his visit to the Qatari capital, said that Iran is also scheduled to sign some more documents with a number of other GECF member-states later today.
