Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s Intelligence Ministry in a statement on Tuesday announced that the country’s security forces arrested the main perpetrators of the assassination of Martyr Mowlavi Abdolvahed Rigi, a Sunni cleric and Friday prayer Imam of the city of Khash, Sistan and Baluchestan.
The ministry issued a statement saying that following round-the-clock efforts and a series of actions and intelligence observations by officers and intelligence experts of the ministry in Sistan and Baluchestan Province, three of the main perpetrators of the assassination of Martyr Mowlavi Abdolvahed Rigi were identified, and arrested in cooperation with the provincial police headquarters.
The Ministry of Intelligence noted that these terrorist elements intended to flee the country after the assassination of the martyr, but they were detained by the intelligence forces.
Further information will be announced accordingly, it added.
Mowlavi Abdolvahed Rigi was found dead on a road near Khash on Friday, a day after he was kidnapped by unknown people while he was at a mosque.
Provincial officials said he had been shot in the head.
