Iran censures new US-imposed sanctions

Tehran, IRNA – The United States’ insistence on imposing news sanctions on Iranian nationals and firms indicates the American statesmen’s inability to understand world equations, an Iranian official said.

Nasser Kanaani, Spokesman of the Foreign Ministry of the Islamic Republic of Iran, said on Thursday that Tehran strongly condemns the United States’ imposition of sanctions on Iranian civilians and companies on the basis of unfounded accusations that they contributed to what the American authorities called cyberattacks on the US.

Washington’s insistence on resorting to illegal and abnormal behaviors against independent governments and nations indicates the American statesmen’s inability to understand global equations correctly and try to adjust themselves with the realities on the ground, the spokesman argued.

Resorting to baseless campaign and propagating false data on Iran are part of failed Iranophobic plot hatched by the US administration, which will bear no fruit for them, Kanaani noted.

The US, which has kept mute earlier, when it came to numerous cyberattacks on Iran’s infrastructure even on its peaceful nuclear facilities or yet supported directly or indirectly such attacks, is not in a position to accuse others of committing such acts, he mentioned.

The spokesman also underlined that the Islamic Republic as a country, which has been targeted by such cyberattacks, taken responsibility significantly in international efforts to fight the cyber threats.
