Iran elaborates on status of 2 crew members of Greek ships

Tehran, IRNA – Ports and Maritime Organization of Iran (PMOI) in a statement elaborated on the latest status of the crew members of Delta Poseidon and Prudent Warrior Greek oil tankers and their consignments at Iranian ports.

“The governor of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in line with its humanitarian duties and in full cooperation with those two ships’ owners, offers the entire needed technical services to the ships and provides the needed facilities for their staff,” reads the statement.

It reiterates that the Greek ships’ owners, too, keeping in mind the need to preserve the safety and security of their ships, and in line with the 2006 Maritime Labor Convention (MLC2006) have transferred their staffs to their desired locations in collaboration with the PMOI.

The PMOI clarifies that the ships’ staffs had basically never been detained and are in accordance with the laws of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the international shipping conventions working on the decks of their ships, performing their duties.

The statement also notes that the confiscated consignments of the ships, in accordance with the court orders, based on complaint made by the Iranian oil taker, Delta, belongs to the Iranian nation.
