Iran FM says Oman, Qatar visit in line with fostering policy on neighborliness

Tehran, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said early on Tuesday that his visit to Oman and Qatar takes place in line with strengthening policy of neighborliness.

Amirabdollahian made the remarks upon arrival in Doha, capital of Qatar.

Giving details about his Monday visit to Muscat, the foreign minister said some bilateral issues were reviewed there.

Also, the two discussed resumption of exchange of goods by boat, nuclear talks in Vienna, removal of the sanctions and joint investment in various fields, Amirabdollahian told reporters.

As the foreign minister underlined, his talks in Oman focused on regional developments in Yemen and Afghanistan and also the issue of Palestine.

He went on to say that Omani officials continue their diplomatic efforts to help the negotiating table reach a good agreement.

About goals behind his Doha visit, the foreign minister said he will meet with his Qatari counterpart and Emir of the country.

The meeting will concentrate on international, regional, and bilateral issues, he noted.

Amirabdollahian arrived in Muscat before midday on Monday.

He left Omani capital for Doha in the evening the same day.
