Iran, India to expedite the implementation of the Chabahar Agreement

Ali Akbar Safaei, the Managing Director of PMO, put emphasis on the main policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran which is to increase trade and economic cooperation with neighboring countries and said: The Ports and Maritime Organization and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran hold direct talks with India, Pakistan, UAE, Oman and Qatar to utilize the capacity of the port of Chabahar and increase the transit goods to Central Asian countries.

The Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development stressed that Chabahar Agreement should be finalized and implemented as soon as possible and signed by the parties. “Our goal is to make the Chabahar International Agreement operational with fewer challenges. The ultimate and pivotal goal of this organization is to increase the traffic and transit of goods through Chabahar port, which also should be addressed in the main contract.” Safaei added.

in this meeting, Rajiv Jalota; Managing Director of IPGL (Shahid Beheshti Port Operator), referred to the favorable potential of Chabahar Port for trade and transit of goods and said: Obstacles need to be removed quickly by adopting executive strategies.

“utilizing efficient equipment in Shahid Beheshti port of Chabahar will help increase the traffic and throughput in Chabahar port.” Rajiv Jalota highlighted.
