Iran, Iraq FMs meet in Tehran

Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian hosted his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Hussein here on Thursday.

The two foreign ministers discussed bilateral ties, regional developments, and other issues, including the situation in Yemen, Afghanistan, Syria, and Ukraine.

Amirabdollahian underscored facilitating business exchange in border crosses, seamless transit between Iran and Iraq, and the finalization of Basrah-Shalamcheh railway that connects the two countries.

He urged facilitating Iranian passengers’ travel to Iraqi holy cities through ground routes.

Amirabdollahian also stated that Iran couldn’t accept being threatened by the US, the Israeli regime, and terrorist and separatist elements via its own borders.

The Iraqi foreign minister said that Baghdad would continue its constructive role in establishing peace and strengthening dialogue in the region.

Fuad Hussein ensured that Iraqi wouldn’t let its soil be a source of threat against neighboring countries, as the security of Iran and Iraq was interdependent.
