Tehran, IRNA – Alireza Haqiqian, a special aide to Iran’s foreign minister on Tuesday voiced the Islamic Republic’s opposition to any efforts to form a coalition or unity with third parties to resolve regional disputes.
Haqiqian, also the director of Eurasian affairs of Iran Foreign Ministry, was addressing the sixth Ministerial Meeting of Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA).
Noting that the foreign policy of the new Iranian government is focused on development of regional cooperation, he urged the need for further activation of CICA to make use of the opportunities and prevent the threats.
He called for close cooperation between the member-states and resolving the existing disputes through political means.
Haqiqian referred to the so-called normalizing of relations of certain regional countries with the Zionist regime, noting that the deterioration of situation in the occupied lands of Palestine has to be strongly condemned as a clear example of systematic violation of human rights, humanitarian rights and international law.
He said that Iran welcomes the promotion of CICA into a regional organization via systematic and scheduled negotiations.
