Iran ready to open WIPO office in country

Tehran, IRNA – The head of State Organization for Registration of Deeds and Properties expressed Iran’s readiness on Wednesday for opening World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) office in the country.

Zabihollah Khodaeian made the remarks in a meeting held in Geneva, Switzerland, with Deputy Director General of WIPO Regional and National Development Sector Hasan Kleib.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the third day of the Sixty-Second Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of the Member States of WIPO.

As Khodaeian announced, the Islamic Republic of Iran is willing to have close ties with WIPO.

Referring to the country’s national capacities and infrastructures, the official said that the country is pursuing implementation of Technology and Innovation Support Center (TISC) project, launch of school classes with Persian Language in the region in summer, and establishment of educational center for intellectual property.

For his part, Kleib said the process of launching TISC offices in Iran will start soon.

The current conditions are appropriate for having interaction with Iran, he added.

He went on to say that WIPO is ready to hold summer classes in the region for students in Persian-speaking countries.

As he underlined, WIPO is ready to support Iranian small and medium-sized companies and entrepreneurs to enter world markets.

WIPO introduces itself as a global forum for intellectual property (IP) services, policy, information, and cooperation.

Established in 1967, WIPO has 193 member states.
