Iran reiterates support for Lebanon

Tehran, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian on Thursday voiced Tehran’s readiness to provide all-out support for Lebanon.

Amirabdollahian, who is on a visit to Beirut, made the remarks in a meeting with Lebanese President Michel Aoun.

The Iranian foreign minister congratulated President Aoun on the formation of a new government in Lebanon.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed bilateral issues, as well as the latest regional developments.

Amirabdollahian said that Iran is ready to cooperate in Lebanon’s developmental projects.

Referring to Iran’s technical and engineering capabilities, he said that Iran can have an active presence in power plant projects of Lebanon.

The Lebanese president, for his part, said that both the Lebanese people and government regard the Islamic Republic of Iran as a friend.

The Lebanese people always feel the support of the Islamic Republic of Iran by their side, he said.

Referring to the ongoing talks between Iran and Saudi Arabia, President Aoun said that these negotiations are of prime importance.
