Tehran, IRNA – Chief of the General Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Baqeri on Monday held talks with Syrian Defense Minister Ali Mahmoud Abbas and his accompanying delegation in the Iranian capital Tehran.
Discussions covered a range of issues, including Tehran-Damascus relations, Israel’s occupation of the Palestinian territories, as well as the years-long crisis in Syria.
Major General Baqeri said that the Syrian government and people managed to foil plots, adding that Iran has stood by and will continue to stand by the Syrian nation.
The Syrian defense minister thanked Iran for its support for the Arab country.
The two officials also condemned repeated acts of aggression by the Zionist regime against Syria.
They meanwhile stressed the need for holding joint military drills by Iran and Syria.
