Iran top negotiator arrives in Vienna for continuation of 8th round of talks

Vienna, IRNA – Iran’s top negotiator Ali Bagheri Kani arrived in the Austrian capital on Monday for continuation of eighth round of talks on removal of US sanctions on Iran.

Diplomatic and expert talks between Iran and 4+1 will be resumed within later hours at Palais Coburg in Vienna.

The agenda of the talks will be review of ways of verification after lifting of the sanctions and examining the criteria which would lessen possibility of the US re-exit from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) from which the United States withdrew unilaterally in May 2018.

The talks will also review ways to not let the US impose new sanctions which would be against the agreement.

Before leaving for Tehran last week, Bagheri Kani said that good progress has been made during recent talks on lifting of the sanctions in Vienna.

The eighth round of talks focused on the issue of removal of the sanctions, he noted.

In this area, some texts were exchanged between the two sides and some good progress was made, he underlined.

He further hoped that the two would follow up the issue of lifting of the sanctions more seriously.

Already, Bagheri Kani had said that if the other side accepted the Islamic Republic of Iran’s logical viewpoints and stance, the eighth round could be the final round and agreement would be reached in the shortest time.
