Iran urges UN to focus on all dimensions of Syrian crisis

New York, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian called on the UN to pay attention to all aspects of the Syrian crisis.

Speaking in a meeting with United Nations Special Envoy for Syria Geir O. Pedersen on the sidelines of the 76th UN General Assembly meeting, Amirabdollahian supported UN efforts in line with ending the Syrian crisis.

He slammed US sanctions against Syria, saying that Washington is expected to play a more active role for lifting cruel sanctions against Syrians.

Occupation and presence and intervention of the foreign forces have exacerbated the crisis, he reiterated.

He stressed Iran’s principled policy with regard to supporting territorial integrity and demand of the Syrian people.

Meanwhile, Pedersen presented a report of the latest developments in Syria and the UN measures in this regard.
