Yerevan: Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and his Armenian counterpart, Ararat Mirzoyan, have engaged in discussions focusing on bilateral and regional concerns. Mirzoyan hosted the Iranian foreign minister for a working dinner shortly after Araqchi’s arrival in Armenia’s capital on Monday night.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the discussions between the two ministers covered crucial bilateral and regional issues. During his stay in Yerevan, Araqchi is also scheduled to hold meetings with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and other senior officials, with the situation in the Caucasus region being a key item on the agenda.
Esmaeil Baqaei, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, announced Araqchi’s trip to Armenia on Sunday night. Baqaei stated that the visit, which was at the invitation of Armenia’s foreign minister, is part of Iran’s ongoing consultations with its neighbors concerning bilateral relations and regional developments.
On March 16, President Masoud Pezeshkian had a telephone conversation with Armenian Prime Minister Pashinyan, during which they exchanged views on bilateral relations and stressed the significance of regional peace and stability, especially among neighboring countries. Iran and Armenia have enjoyed cordial relations since establishing diplomatic ties in 1992.
