Iranian delegation meets with Uzbekistan’s Parliament speaker

Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s parliamentary delegation met and held talks with Chairman of the Uzbek legislative assembly Noureddine Jan Ismailov in Tashkent on Saturday.

The head of Iran-Uzbekistan Parliamentary Friendship Group Gholamreza Nouri Ghezelje has traveled to Uzbekistan upon an invitation by the country’s head of the central commission for elections to supervise the presidential elections.

Referring to the developments of the past few years in Uzbekistan, Nouri Ghezelje expressed hope that the upcoming elections would be held successfully.

Pointing to the need for parliamentary cooperation between the two states, he stressed the development of relations between Iran and Uzbekistan in the economic and transit spheres as well as cooperation on Afghanistan issues.

Ismailov received an invitation message from Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf at the beginning of the meeting with the Iranian delegation.

An Iranian parliamentary delegation left Tehran for Tashkent on Friday to supervise Uzbekistan’s presidential election.
