Iranian Officials Hail Syrian Government on Aleppo
Iranian officials on Wednesday hailed the Syrian government for its success in "liberating" the majority of Aleppo from rebels.
During the parliament's open session, speaker Ali Larijani said the resistance of the Syrian government had forced the rebels to surrender "and God willing, Mosul will also be liberated soon.
"Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, Ali Shamkhani, urged Western countries, whom he accused of arming and supporting the Syrian rebels, to return to the negotiating table with Assad's government and find a peaceful solution to the crisis.
Syrian activists said on Wednesday that fighter jets had resumed bombing of eastern Aleppo, further putting at risk a ceasefire deal and threatening plans to evacuate the remaining rebels and tens of thousands of civilians out of harm's way, AP reported.
