Tehran: Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has reiterated Iran’s support for Syria in its fight against terrorism, asserting that the recent surge in terrorist activities in Syria is part of a Zionist-American scheme. Qalibaf made these remarks during a phone conversation with his Syrian counterpart, Hammouda Sabbagh, on Monday, as discussions focused on the resurgence of Takfiri terrorist groups in northern Syria.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Qalibaf emphasized that Iran perceives Syria as an integral component of the Resistance front and described the rise of terrorist groups in Syria as a coordinated effort by Israeli and American forces. This surge, he noted, coincides with the implementation of a ceasefire in neighboring Lebanon, suggesting a deliberate and synchronized strategy.
During the conversation, Sabbagh provided Qalibaf with an update on the Syrian Army’s counteroffensive against terrorist groups, which have launched a surprise assault on Aleppo and Idlib since Wed
nesday. He expressed gratitude for Iran’s unwavering support in Syria’s battle against terrorism, highlighting the significance of their alliance in resisting foreign intervention.
Sabbagh also expressed confidence in Syria’s ability to overcome the current offensive, drawing on its 13 years of experience in combating terrorism and foreign military forces. He conveyed a strong determination that Syria will eventually succeed in repelling the ongoing threat.
