Iran’s president congratulates Muslim heads of states on Eid al-Adha

Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi on Saturday sent separate messages to heads of states of Islamic countries, congratulating them on Eid al-Adha, or the Feast of Sacrifice.

President Raisi expressed hope that the religious occasion helps enhance unity among Muslim nations.

He said that Eid al-Adha is the manifestation of obedience to God as the occasion is a remembrance of the Prophet Abraham’s obedience to Allah Almighty to sacrifice his son.

Eid al-Adha is one of the greatest religious festivals in the Islamic world and marks the end of the annual Hajj pilgrimage in the Saudi city of Mecca.

The event is celebrated on two different days, depending on lunar sightings.

This year, Eid al-Adha is celebrated on Saturday and Sunday.

Iran marks the event on Sunday.
