Iraq and Britain discuss activating joint cooperation in all environmental fields

The Minister of Environment, Nizar Amidi, discussed today, Monday, with the British Ambassador, Mark Bryson, ways to enhance joint cooperation in all environmental fields.

A statement by the Ministry of Environment stated that the Minister received the British Ambassador at the Ministry’s headquarters, and during the meeting they discussed the importance of activating international support for the completion of adaptation and mitigation projects to reduce the effects of climate change and early preparation for (Cop 28) that will be held at the end of this year in the United Arab Emirates. .

The Minister explained during the meeting, according to the statement, that the focus was on a number of important environmental issues, including environmental monitoring, the mine clearance file, preparing for joint activities between Iraq and Britain on climate change issues, supporting environmental work, and reducing the impact of climate changes such as drought, desertification and dust storms, and benefiting from experiences in the field the environment”.

On his part, the British Ambassador affirmed the British government’s interest in supporting Iraq, especially in the issues of agriculture, water management, renewable energies, and the promotion of joint environmental cooperation.
