Gaza: New Israeli airstrikes have resulted in the deaths of at least 23 individuals in the Gaza Strip. Among the casualties were children, as reported by Palestinian medics. The healthcare facilities in the region are overwhelmed with both the deceased and the injured following the resumption of hostilities by Israel last week.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the recent airstrikes occurred overnight into Tuesday, with significant loss of life. Included in the fatalities were three children and their parents, who perished in an attack on their tent situated near Khan Younis, as confirmed by Gaza’s Nasser Hospital.
The conflict reignited on October 7, 2023, after a ceasefire earlier this year was disrupted. The hostilities resumed on March 18, following a brief pause since January. The ongoing war has claimed the lives of over 50,000 Palestinians and left more than 113,000 wounded, as reported by Gaza’s Health Ministry.
In a separate incident, Oscar-winning Palestinian director Hamdan Ballal faced an attack and subsequent arrest. Ballal, known for co-directing the documentary ‘No Other Land,’ was assaulted by masked Israeli settlers in Susya Village, located in the Israeli-occupied West Bank. Following the assault, he was detained by the Israeli military for interrogation.
Witnesses recounted that Ballal was attacked by a group of at least 20 settlers armed with knives, sticks, and rocks. Despite the proximity of Israeli soldiers, there was no intervention to safeguard Ballal, who was later taken into custody.
