Tehran, IRNA – A renowned Japanese artist participating in a painting exhibition titled “Iran-Japan Cultural Exchanges” in Tokyo has urged for expansion of cultural and artistic interactions between the two countries.
In an interview with the Cultural Counselor of the Iranian Embassy in Japan, Jun Matsubara expressed hope on Monday that cultural and artistic exchanges between Iran and Japan would develop day by day and the two sides would hold numerous joint exhibitions in collaboration with Iranian and Japanese artists because holding such exhibitions can play a key role in expanding intercultural relations between the two nations.
The Japanese artist, who painted Imam Mosque of Isfahan without visiting the historical site, noted that he has not traveled to Iran so far; therefore, he needed serious studies to be able to create cultural and artistic works on Iran; then, he has been interested in historical Islamic-Iranian architectures and buildings, which are like miniatures.
Matsubara pointed to the fact that he has been inspired by the special architecture of Imam Mosque in Isfahan, noting that the monument has many differences with Japanese buildings, hoping that he will find the opportunity to create more paintings concerning Iranian culture and art.
The Japanese artist further said that he has got limited information on Imam Khomeini and the Islamic Republic and that he is very keen on visiting Iran because he heard about the intimacy and kindness of the Iranian people.
The unique painting exhibition titled Iran-Japan Cultural Exchanges has been held for the first time by the Cultural Counselor of the Iranian Embassy in Japan, displaying 36 artistic works from eight prominent Japanese artists.
Japanese painters displayed their works named Imam Mosque of Isfahan, copper jar, appreciation day, Persepolis Citadel, travel, beyond the memory, Tehran and mental picture of Pars with vase and tulip.
