Japanese PM congratulates President Ebrahim Raisi

Tehran, IRNA – The Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga in a message congratulated President Ebrahim Raisi on his inauguration.

Yoshihide Suga offered determination of Japan to cooperate with Iran in line with developing historical ties with Iran.

Ebrahim Raisi took the oath of office in a ceremony held at the Iranian parliament in Tehran on Thursday.

The swearing-in of the president in Iran is based on Article 121 of the constitution. According to the constitution, in the swearing-in ceremony, the Judiciary chief and members of the Expediency Council should be present in the parliament.

On Friday, June 18, the 13th presidential election was held simultaneous with the sixth round of city and village councils elections, the first mid-term for the 11th parliament’s by-election, and the second mid-term for the fifth Assembly of Experts election.

Out of over 59.3 million eligible voters, nearly 29 million took part in the 13th presidential election on June 18, 2021. Ebrahim Raisi won the presidential race with over 18 million votes out of nearly 29 million ballots, which shows a 48.8 percent turnout.
