KSrelief Launches Food Security Support Project in Chad Republic


N’Djamena, The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) on Monday launched in N’Djamena the Food Security Support Project for the Republic of Chad for the year 2024.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Saudi Ambassador to Chad Amer bin Ali Al-Shehri and a team from KSrelief, headed by Director of Public Relations and Media Shalhoub Al-Shalhoub. Attendees from the Chadian side were the secretary of state for higher education, scientific research and innovation; the secretary general of the Ministry of Social Affairs and National Solidarity; and project beneficiaries from underprivileged families.

Al-Shehri said in a speech at the ceremony that that Chad faces great challenges in the humanitarian field as a result of natural factors and humanitarian crises, indicating that this food aid provided by KSrelief comes to support the neediest groups in Chad. He also commended the distinguished humanitarian interventions of the center in supporting needy communities in African countries.

ian officials attending the ceremony extended their gratitude for the Kingdom, represented by KSrelief, for its generous support for the needy segments in their countries, and they praised the brotherly relations between the two countries.

Al-Shalhoub underscored that the project aims to provide food assistance to needy families in Chad, who are classified in the third and fourth stages according to the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification. He said work is under way to improve their living standards. He also indicated that the project, at a total cost of SAR16.8 million, aims to distribute 54,855 food baskets, each weighing 65 kilograms, benefiting a total of 121,530 individuals.

The food assistance, extended by the Kingdom through its humanitarian arm, KSrelief, comes as part of the humanitarian efforts of the center in several brotherly and friendly countries around the world.
