Madinah Dates Season Explores the Future of AI-Driven Agriculture

A workshop organized recently as part of the Madinah Dates Season and held at the Chamber of Commerce brought together Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz University faculty members, researchers, and AI enthusiasts to discuss the future of agriculture.

The event showcased innovative AI tools designed to monitor crop health, detect early signs of diseases or stress, and offer insights for effective treatment. Devices capable of predicting agricultural pest activity, which enable farmers to implement targeted pest control strategies, minimize crop losses, and reduce chemical usage, were also presented.

Researchers and experts in AI have emphasized the pivotal role of advanced electronic systems in revolutionizing agriculture in Saudi Arabia. According to them, these systems, powered by technology, can significantly enhance sustainable agricultural practices, address pressing challenges, and boost local production.

The workshop aligned with the broader objectives of this year’s Madinah Dates Season, which seeks to ra
ise awareness about date palm varieties, date’s nutritional value, and the agricultural practices involved in their production.

Over 29,000 farms from various governorates in the region took part in the event, one in a long string of activities carried out throughout the season.
